Indiana State Police Execute Arrest and Search Warrants Following Investigation

On September 14, 2026, Indiana State Police detectives executed an arrest warrant for Jose Lopez, 41, of Covington, Indiana, and search warrants at Agave Azul locations in Covington and Attica. The warrants were executed with assistance from the Fountain County Sheriff’s Department, the Attica Police Department, and the Covington Police Department.

The investigation began after law enforcement received complaints regarding alleged harassment by employees toward customers while dining at the restaurant.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of Carlos Gjeronimo, 19, of Covington, who was preliminarily charged with sexual misconduct with a minor, a Level 5 felony. Dani Hernandez, 29, of Covington, was also arrested and charged with false informing and aggressive harassment.

As the investigation continued, detectives determined that Lopez provided false information to law enforcement on multiple occasions regarding the investigation. Further investigation also revealed that Lopez had allegedly been made aware of allegations involving sexual misconduct and sexual battery but failed to report the alleged offenses to law enforcement.

Lopez was arrested and transported to the Fountain County Jail. He was preliminarily charged with:

  1. Failure to Report, Class B misdemeanor
  2. Obstruction of Justice Involving Child Abuse, Level 5 felony
  3. Harboring and Transporting Illegal Aliens, Level 6 felony
  4. Assisting a Criminal, Level 6 felony
  5. False Informing, Class B misdemeanor
  6. Promotion of Human Labor Trafficking, Level 4 felony

The investigation remains ongoing, and there is no further information to release at this time.

All suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
