Indiana farmers can temporarily use red-dyed diesel fuel on state highways under a waiver in effect from October 6 through November 4.
The waiver is intended to help reduce fuel costs for farmers as they move corn and soybeans from fields to market during harvest.
Indiana Corn Growers Association President Alan Dunn said the waiver comes at a timely point in the harvest season, noting that many farmers are currently in the middle of harvest and fall tillage is expected to continue through November.
Dunn also said he hopes an extension of the fuel relief will be considered.
