The Clinton Central Bulldogs defeated the Tri-Central Trojans 51-7 on Friday.
It was an impressive performance by the Bulldogs to close out the regular season.
“We knew Tri-Central was a little down this year,” Clinton Central coach Michael Griffy said. “The mindset was ‘don’t let the outcome become the distraction’.”
It didn’t take long for the Bulldogs to get on the board. After a Tri-Central fumble, Kaleb Griffy scored from 10 yards out.
After a trio of punts, Luke Shelley took an end-around 52 yards for a score.
Clinton Central then recovered fumbles on the next two kickoffs, scoring touchdowns after both of them to take a commanding 28-0 lead.
Two more turnovers from Tri-Central, an interception by Dylan White and a fumble recovery, turned into two more Bulldog touchdowns.
Kaleb Griffy had a hat-trick of rushing touchdowns in the first half, and Clinton Central held a 44-0 lead at the break.
Griffy was named the First Bank Midwest Player of the Game for his performance.

Clinton Central’s only touchdown of the second half came from Landon Crider, who finished with two touchdowns on the day.
Gavin Speaks connected on the extra point to push the lead to 51-0.
Kainen Hollingsworth scored the lone touchdown for Tri-Central early in the fourth on a 65-yard rushing score.
The Bulldogs ran down the clock and finished the game with a 51-7 win, moving to 4-5 on the year.
Clinton Central will rematch Tri-Central in the first round of Sectional 43 Friday at 7:00 in Michigantown. A win would give the Bulldogs their first 5-win season since 2020, the second-to-last season under legendary coach George Gilbert.
