Clinton County EMS will host a community blood drive Wednesday, Oct. 28, in partnership with Eskenazi Health and Versiti Blood Center to help support the availability of blood for patients experiencing traumatic injuries and other medical emergencies.
The blood drive will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. at Clinton County EMS headquarters.
Clinton County EMS carries low-titer O-positive whole blood in the prehospital setting, allowing emergency personnel to begin providing blood to patients with severe traumatic bleeding before they reach a hospital.
The department said early access to blood can be critical for patients experiencing life-threatening blood loss. The community blood drive aims to help support this lifesaving resource for patients throughout the region.
Community members who are able to donate are encouraged to participate.
