Frankfort Announces Soft Closure on East Boone Street for Halloween

The City of Frankfort will implement a soft road closure along East Boone Street from South Clay Street to South Williams Street during Halloween trick-or-treating on Saturday, Oct. 31.

The area has become one of Frankfort’s busiest trick-or-treating destinations, drawing large numbers of children and families. Increased vehicle traffic, including drivers stopping from house to house, has raised safety concerns as pedestrians walk along the street and cross between vehicles.

Barricades will be placed at South Clay Street and South Williams Street, along with several intersecting streets, to discourage through traffic during trick-or-treating.

The closure will not prevent residents living within the area from accessing their homes. However, drivers entering or leaving the area are asked to use extra caution and watch for children and families.

Visitors are encouraged to park away from East Boone Street and walk through the neighborhood rather than driving from house to house.

City officials said the soft closure is a new measure being tried this year to reduce vehicle traffic and provide more room for families to enjoy Halloween safely. The city appreciates the public’s cooperation as the community tests the new approach.
