DELPHI, IN — Delphi Community School Corporation (DCSC) is excited to announce that it has been awarded a $75,000 planning grant from Indiana Lifelong Learning Projects, Inc. (ILLP) through its Opportunity to Learn Project. This funding will support the district’s efforts to identify and address barriers that may prevent students from reaching their full academic potential.
The Opportunity to Learn Project focuses on recognizing that student success is influenced by more than what happens inside the classroom. Challenges such as limited access to childcare, after-school programming, transportation, and other community resources can create obstacles for students and families, particularly in rural communities.
Through this grant, Delphi Community School Corporation will have the opportunity to explore innovative strategies, strengthen community partnerships, and develop a comprehensive plan to expand opportunities for students and families.
“We are incredibly grateful to Indiana Lifelong Learning Projects for investing in our school district and community,” said Dr. Pamela Moore, Superintendent of Delphi Community School Corporation. “As a rural school district, we recognize that our students and families face unique challenges when it comes to accessing programs and resources outside the traditional school day. This grant gives us an exciting opportunity to examine those needs, collaborate with community partners, and develop a thoughtful plan to better support our students and families.”
The $75,000 planning grant will support activities such as researching successful programs, analyzing community needs, engaging stakeholders, consulting with experts, and developing a competitive proposal for potential future funding through the Opportunity to Learn Project.
One area of interest for the district is expanding access to high-quality out-of-school programming for students, including after-school enrichment, academic support, and opportunities during summer and school breaks. These types of programs can provide students with meaningful learning experiences while also helping working families access safe, reliable programming for their children.
“This opportunity aligns directly with our district’s strategic plan and our commitment to Every Student. Every Opportunity.,” Moore added. “Our goal is to ensure that every student has access to the support, experiences, and opportunities needed to thrive. We are excited about what this planning process could mean for the future of Delphi Community School Corporation and the families we serve.”
The district looks forward to sharing additional information as the planning process progresses and opportunities for community involvement are identified.
