“All Aboard” is the Outdoor Drama that will be performed on the Linden Depot Museum grounds Saturday, August 17 at 2 pm, with a raindate of Sunday, August 18. The script has been written by a local playwright, Dr. Louis Janeira, who is a cardiologist at Franciscan Hospitals, and a published author of mystery novels. Dr. Janeira has two additional plays being performed this summer in Carmel and in Indianapolis.
This play is centered around the full-sized replica of an 1837 Norris 4-2-0 steam engine that the museum volunteers have been constructing for the past year. This engine incorporated all of the best features of steam engines at this time and set the standards for subsequent steam engines. Those attending the drama will be treated to an up-close view of this historic engine. This replica has been constructed to match the exact dimensions of the original engine.
The drama is being sponsored by Hoosier Heartland State Bank and will be directed by Michael Patton of Crawfordsville who is a past director of Vanity Theater in Crawfordsville in addition to having directed many plays for Vanity Theater and other performance venues. The music in the drama will be directed by Gary Ketchum, who directs the Montgomery County Civic Band.
Tickets are $6 per person and are available at the museum during the regular admission hours of Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon to 5 pm or by texting or calling 765-427-3630. Tickets include admission to both buildings in the museum complex that day; everyone attending the drama must have a ticket.
Linden Depot Museum is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation operated by an all-volunteer staff; 100% of all donations goes directly towards museum maintenance, acquisitions and projects. Linden Depot Museum is located at 520 North Main Street (US Highway 231) in Linden, 10 miles north of Crawfordsville, and 15 miles south of Lafayette.
There are two buildings in the museum complex. The original Linden Depot building, built in 1909, houses a large display of railroad memorabilia, including artifacts from the Monon and Nickel Plate Railroads for which it was built to serve. The second building on the south side of the property houses a large HO model railroad attraction with four operating trains, and animated scenery. This building has circus items on display as well as about 1000 model train cars and engines.
