With the Battle of the Badges basketball showdown on the horizon between the Frankfort Police Department and Frankfort Fire Department, the teams have acquired a new trophy to raise the stakes.

The Frankfort Police Department announced that the tournament has received a new trophy for the showdown from Ellis Jewelers, who designed and donated the trophy to the reigning victors, the Police Department.

The Clinton County Battle of the Badges will kick off on Sunday, April 28 at Frankfort High School at 1 p.m. with a basketball face-off between the Frankfort Police Department and Frankfort Fire Department.

After a cancellation of the event previously as a result of the pandemic, the event returned in 2022, raising just over $3,000 for local organizations, and the 2023 rendition sported similar numbers, raising around $2,500 for the Boys & Girls Club and Special Olympics. Last year’s event also featured a face-off between the Special Olympics basketball teams following the nail-biting battle of the badges.
