Clinton County Sheriff’s Department Has New Merit Deputy

On Friday, January 17, Sheriff Rich Kelly swore in their newest merit deputy, Ryan Black.

Deputy Black is a 2010 graduate of Harrison High School, West Lafayette.  He played baseball at Danville Area Community College and finished his Bachelor’s Degree at Purdue University in 2014.  Deputy Black coached baseball for Harrison High School for three years.

Black comes to us from the Lafayette City Police Department, where he received a life saving award in 2017. Deputy Black is already a certified police officer by the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and will be ready for solo patrol after a short FTO period to familiarize with our agency’s policies and procedures.  Deputy Black joins our department with his fiancé, Paige and their three children, Roman, Elias and Quinn.
