Healthy Communities of Clinton County Coalition’s Community Baby Showers continues to get bigger and bigger.

“We had 40 moms come today plus their partners or family members,” said Healthy Communities Executive Director Lorra Archibald. “We had 25 vendors which is the most vendors that’s we’ve ever had and that’s really nice so that the expectant and new moms know the resources that we have in the community. It’s been a huge success.”

The three-hour event was held Thursday at St. Matthew Church and featured two educational breakout sessions along with lunch, games and a chance to visit with vendors.

Vendors included 1st Steps, Open Door Clinic, Frankfort Public

Community Library, Quinton’s House, Matrix Life Care Center, Frankfort YMCA, Childcare Resource Network, Pregnancy Resource Center, Purdue Nutrition Education Program, Bauer Family Resources, Women Infant and Children (WIC), Nurse Family Partnership, Witham Community Hospital, Frankfort Fire, Clinton County Board of Health, Covering Kids and Families of Indiana, Gifts of Grace, Anthem, Area IV, Holden Pharmacy, MDWise, St. Vincent Peds, Healthy Families, IU Arnett and Walmart.

“This is our Fifth Annual Baby Shower and this is by far the biggest one that we’ve had,” said Archibald. “The whole objective is to give these moms, who sometimes don’t get a baby shower anywhere else. Here they get a baby shower, an educational breakout session and they also learn about the resources that are in the community.”

Archibald was asked what she thought the most important thing was for the mothers.

“I think the resources,” she said. “I think the connections to organizations that can help them during pregnancy and once they have small children plus the educational breakout sessions are nice because a lot of these are first time moms that may not have that information.”

The event was sponsored by The Farmers Bank, Covering Kids and Families of Indiana, Holden Pharmacy and Zachary
