City Council Approves Amended Ordinance for HCCCC

The Frankfort City Council unanimously approved an ordinance amending the zoning map Monday night which paves the way for Healthy Communities of Clinton Coalition to turn the First Baptist Church into a one stop shop for health services in Clinton County.

“This takes 301 South Columbia Street and it transfers it from C residential zoning to GB or general business zoning,” said Frankfort Mayor Chris McBarnes. “This will allow Healthy Communities of Clinton County Coalition to create a health organization there which will have many different services for the community.”

According to officials from Healthy Communities of Clinton County Coalition, the change would probably not happen until the fall. They are having to move out of their current offices on Oak Street due to the building of the brand new IU Health Frankfort Hospital.

In other action, the council voted 4-1 to approve the second reading of an ordinance amending and restating 90.15 and repealing 90.17 and 90.18 of the municipal code regarding animal vaccination requirements. Councilman Jim Moyer cast the lone ‘no’ vote.

McBarnes also announced that beginning Thursday, he will start having discussions with his department heads about the budget for 2020.
