Damaged Poles Cause Power Outages In Frankfort & Clinton County Early This Morning, March 15

Following the storms that swept through Clinton County overnight, Frankfort Utility Service Board Chairman stated that multiple poles have been damaged, leading to power outages across Frankfort and the rest of the Clinton County area this morning.

Brewer stated that calls began coming into the City Light and Power Office around 3 a.m. this morning, and since the calls, crews have found that between 15 and 18 poles have been broken that have been identified already as of 9 a.m. this morning, March 15, and other poles may be identified later into the morning hours. Brewer stated that the area experiencing the highest amount of issues following the storm includes 200 South between 400 West and 700 West where 14 to 15 poles have been identified as damaged as the daylight brightened up the region.

Brewer added that the Colfax and Broadview Lake area is likely the area with the most issues this morning. Mishawaka and Logansport Utilities have been dispatched to the area to aid with the efforts to restore power and address the broken poles.

“Please don’t go in the area and start looking and things like that,” Brewer said. “The crews, since 4 o’clock, have been working on isolating areas, getting the areas where stuff is down shut off and getting as many houses back on as possible.”

Brewer stated that in the area, some three-phase power lines are down alongside some dead-end power lines. Throughout the morning, crews have been working to rid the area of the downed lines to be able to access the area and repair and replace the poles that have been damaged.

”I just ask that everyone be patient, the guys are all out,” Brewer said. “One area is gonna be most of day and going into the night before some of those areas can be restored with power.”

Brewer added that the department cannot put a time table on the power restoration, but as the crews begin their work and make progress, they expect to provide updates regarding the status of the power outages.

Brewer asked community members to continue exercising patience throughout the morning when attempting to report damage, power outages and more as the crews are currently working in different areas throughout the city and county and may not be able to immediately take a call.

Community members who identify damage to power lines, power outages and more should contact Frankfort City Light and Power at 765-654-4424.
