Delphi Police K9 Remington Receives Bullet- and Stab-Protective Vest

The Delphi Police Department’s K9 Remington has received a bullet- and stab-protective vest through a charitable donation from Vested Interest in K9s Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting law enforcement and other working dogs.

The vest was sponsored by Vested Interest in K9s Inc. and is embroidered with the sentiment “In Memory of Don Fike.”

The protective equipment provides an additional layer of safety for Remington while serving the Delphi Police Department and the community.

Established in 2009, Vested Interest in K9s Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides protective vests and other assistance to law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States.

The organization’s vests are made in the United States, custom-fitted for each K9 and certified by the National Institute of Justice. Each vest weighs an average of 4 to 5 pounds and comes with a five-year warranty.

Since its founding, the organization has provided more than 6,677 vests, valued at approximately $6.9 million, to K9s in all 50 states through private and corporate donations.

The program is open to law enforcement and related-agency dogs that are at least 20 months old and actively employed and certified. K9s with expired vests are also eligible.

Vested Interest in K9s Inc. accepts tax-deductible donations of any amount. A contribution of $1,050 sponsors one vest, which has an estimated retail value of $1,800.
