Frankfort’s Independence Day celebration gets underway Thursday, July 2, with a pair of free community events marking the beginning of the city’s Fourth of July weekend and America’s 250th anniversary celebration.
The evening begins with Thursday Thunder from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Veterans Park in downtown Frankfort. The event will feature a car show, live music, food vendors, and a variety of local vendors.
Also opening Thursday is the “Eyes of Freedom” military tribute, which will be on display from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Encompass Event Center in Prairie Creek Park. The exhibit honors the service and sacrifice of American military members and will remain open through Sunday, July 5.
Both events are free and open to the public as Frankfort begins a weekend of patriotic festivities celebrating Independence Day and the nation’s 250th anniversary.
