Frankfort Main Street has once again been recognized as
a Nationally Accredited Main Street America™ program, marking a remarkable milestone of 23
consecutive years of national accreditation. This prestigious designation signifies Frankfort Main
Street’s commitment to comprehensive commercial district revitalization and a proven track
record of generating positive economic impact.
Each year, Main Street America and its partners announce the list of Accredited programs to
recognize their exceptional commitment to preservation-based economic development and
community revitalization through the Main Street Approach™.
“Achieving national accreditation for over two decades is a testament to the long-term vision and
consistency of our board, volunteers, and local partners,” said Kim Stevens, Executive Director
of Frankfort Main Street. “This recognition reinforces our efforts to preserve our historic
downtown while fostering a vibrant, sustainable economic core.”
Frankfort Main Street’s performance was evaluated by Indiana Main Street from the Office of
Community & Rural Affairs, which works in partnership with Main Street America to identify
organizations that meet rigorous performance standards. These standards include fostering strong
public-private partnerships, nurturing a diverse board of directors, and managing resources
effectively to support small downtown businesses and community events.
Mayor Judy Sheets praised the organization’s dedication, noting that the sustained accreditation
reflects Frankfort’s identity as a leader in downtown revitalization within the state. “Frankfort
Main Street continues to be the heartbeat of our downtown. Their work with the Redevelopment
Commission and local business owners ensures that our city remains as a hub for residents and
visitors alike.”
