Frankfort Street Paving Continues Monday, Tuesday

Milling began Monday, Oct. 26, as the Frankfort Street Department continues its street improvement project.

Crews began milling Main Avenue from West Armstrong Street to Freeman/Jackson Street. Work is also planned for Meridian Street and Oak Street before crews move to Fifth Street.

Fifth Street will be closed for several days while crews remove railroad ties beneath the roadway. Motorists should use alternate routes while the work is underway.

On Tuesday, Oct. 27, crews plan to continue work on Fifth Street and begin milling additional areas, including:

  • South Harrison Street from East South Street to Harvard Terrace
  • East Boone Street from South Clay Street to South Harrison Street
  • South Young Street from East Boone Street to East South Street, if time allows

No Parking signs have been posted in affected areas. Residents are asked to keep vehicles off the streets during scheduled work to allow crews to complete the project.

The schedule may change depending on weather, equipment availability and work progress. Motorists are encouraged to slow down, use caution around crews and allow extra travel time.

Brian Killman, Frankfort street superintendent, thanked residents for their patience as the city continues making improvements to local streets.
