The current traffic configuration on I-80 eastbound is causing serious traffic issues resulting in drivers making dangerous lane changes. The area affected is the east bound I-80 Express Lane (or dedicated lane). This lane is the far left lane that begins at Kennedy Ave. This express lane does not have any exits prior to the northbound I-65/Central Ave exit.
Once motorists enter the express lane, they cannot exit onto I-65 southbound. Motorists desiring to exit to I-65 southbound must avoid the left express lane and remain in the far right three lanes of travel. This express lane configuration will remain in effect through November 2017.
