On August 31, 2026, at approximately 7:15 a.m., Boone County Corrections Officers located an unresponsive male inmate in an assigned cell within a secure housing area of the Boone County Jail. Emergency medical services were immediately requested. Despite lifesaving efforts by personnel on scene, the inmate was pronounced deceased.

The inmate has been identified as Andrew Rose, 26, of Lebanon, Indiana. Rose was booked into the Boone County Jail on April 14, 2026, for a probation violation and was serving 140 days of his sentence.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Boone County Coroner’s Office, is conducting an investigation into Rose’s death. An autopsy will be performed by a board-certified forensic pathologist in the coming days.

The cause and manner of death remain pending the results of the autopsy and further investigation. At this time, the preliminary scene investigation did not reveal any apparent signs of physical injury.

Rose’s next of kin has been notified by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office. Additional information will be released by the Coroner’s Office as it becomes available and as permitted by Indiana law.
