John R. Louks

John R. Louks, 92, of Frankfort, passed away Friday, March 22, 2019 at his residence.  He was born January 24, 1927 in Carmel to John F. and Mary (Clark) Louks.  He was attended school in Zionsville and Pickard.  He served in the United States Navy in two terms, serving in both World War II and the Korean War.  In 1961 he married Shirley Curnutt, she survives.

John worked for Del Monte until they relocated, and then retired from Harold Stowers Trucking after 30 years.  He was a member of the Sheridan Christian Church, the American Legion, and the VFW.  He enjoyed gardening and feeding his critters.  He had a good natured tormenting sense of humor, and driving was in his blood.

Along with his wife, John is survived by his children, Johnny (Dawn Louks), Craig (Glenda) Louks and Edward (Rhonda) Louks, all of Frankfort, Cheryl (Jack) Holt of Waldron, Cheyenne (Karl) Meenach and Cheree Melahn both of Sheridan; 15 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter Frankie Johnette Louks.

Visitation will be 4-8pm, Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort.  Funeral services will be 11am, Wednesday, March 27 at the funeral home.  Pastor Alan Downing will officiate.  Burial will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clinton County Humane Society.
