Juvenile Detained in Tuesday Morning Shooting

Frankfort Police Detectives interviewed a 13-year-old juvenile for their role in a shooting earlier Tuesday morning. The juvenile was transported by officers to the Clinton County Courthouse where the juvenile was ordered detained pending formal charges.

Evidence gathered at the scene and from witnesses indicate three juveniles were hanging out together when one juvenile brought out a firearm from a bedroom. At some point, one of the juveniles pulled the trigger of the firearm and one round struck another 13-year old juvenile in the face.

The juvenile was airlifted to Riley Children’s Hospital and is currently in surgery. That juvenile is expected to survive. As Frankfort Police continue to investigate and present the facts to the Clinton County Prosecutor, there will be no further updates from the department.

At approximately 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, Frankfort Police and EMS were dispatched to the 300 block of West Green Street for a report of a male juvenile that ran to the residence with a gunshot wound the lower facial area.  Officers determined the incident took place in a residence in the 900 block of North John Street where a handgun was retrieved by officers.

The juvenile male victim was transported via helicopter to Indianapolis.

This is an isolated incident and the public is not in danger.
