These are some of the syringes found at the time of Parmley’s arrest.

At approximately 6:11 p.m. Friday,  deputies with the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a suspicious male at the Kirklin gas station.  The caller stated the man was making awkward gestures towards other customers.   The caller advised the man had left the gas station in a vehicle, westbound on State Road 38.

Deputy Blackwell located a vehicle matching the description on State Road 38, stopped in the roadway.  After speaking to the driver, Deputy Blackwell began a series of Field Sobriety Tests.  Sergeant Mitchell arrived with his K9 partner, Gunny. K9 Gunny alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.

While searching the vehicle, Deputies located multiple hypodermic syringes, a metal spoon with a brown residue on it, and a homemade tourniquet.  The driver, 35-year-old Danny Parmley of Lafayette, was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated, Possession of a Syringe, and Possession of Paraphernalia.  Formal charges are pending from the Clinton County Prosecutor’s Office.

Sheriff Rich Kelly thanks the community for calling in suspicious activity: “Deputy Blackwell and Sergeant Mitchell’s quick response to a civilian complaint led to the arrest of an individual who was a threat to the motoring public on our roadways. Well done!”
