Lebanon Tigers Receive Honors For 2023 Fall Sports Season

Lebanon High School coaches gathered on Monday to award their student athletes with individual awards, team rewards and more for the 2023 fall sports season.

According to the Lebanon High School athletic department, 162 athletes of the 241 athletes that participated during the fall sports season were recognized for achieving a weighted grade point average, or GPA, of 3.3 or higher during the first nine weeks of the school year. The measurement did not account for previous GPAs for upperclassmen and only calculated the first nine weeks of the first semester. Lebanon High School had 75 student athletes receive a 4.0 or higher during the first nine weeks.

For cheerleading, Heaven Tunstill was named “most improved,” Kinzli Gould was named “most valuable,” Macie DeLaRosa was presented with the “sportsmanship” award, and Kallie Shepherd was designated as the “scholar athlete.” The cheerleading scholar athletes with a 3.3 or higher GPA were Aiyana Bailey, Marabeth Burgin, Brilynn Cox, Shelby Dimiceli, Lili Gonzalez, Kinzli Gould, Michela Guerra, Cayleigh Krehely, Kylie McClaine, Caidyn Nance, Josie Pratt, Kallie Shepherd, Sharailyn Solis-Viveros, Sarah Turgeon and Kyla Williams.

For volleyball, Kinley Young was named “outstanding offensive player,” Mya Nelson was named “outstanding defensive player,” Avery Buckler was named “most improved player,” Sydnie Starkey was named “most valuable player,” Ava Susong was presented with the “sportsmanship” award and Emily Sperry and Grace Tiefel were designated as the “scholar athletes.” The volleyball scholar athletes with a 3.3 or higher GPA were Allison Albea, Marina Barr, Callie Bruder, Audrey Butler, Ellie Cooper, Gabby Deakins, Mayli Folden, Lillian Fulkerson, Clara Gonzalez, Paige Jones, Averie Lollar, Marli McConnell, Mya Nelson, Emily Sperry, Ava Susong, Sophie Robison, Emerson Shepherd, Sydnie Starkie, Grace Tiefel, Madalynn Welty, Miley Wilhoite, Brooklyn Windhorst and Kinley Young.

Sydnie Starkey and Mya Nelson were named First Team All-Conference, Kinley Young and Ava Susong were named Second Team All-Conference and Emily Sperry and Gabby Deakins received Academic All-State Honors.

For football, Brendan Shockley was named “offensive MVP,” Kaden Lark was named “defensive MVP,” Brady Johnson was named “special team MVP,” Jackson Folden was named “most improved player,” Arsene Mpanda was named the “Terry Weeks outstanding sophomore,” Sam Kyker was presented with the “Chris Watson Sportsmanship Award” and Dax Frost was designated as the “scholar athlete.” The football scholar athletes with a 3.3 or higher GPA were Joel Acton, Avery Akin, Eli Bridges, Richard Carlson, Archer Clevenger, Garth Cline, Mason Crew, Ian Cutter, Cohen Deakins, Luke Dunshee, Jackson Folden, Daniel Frost, Cayden Gates, Dylan Gosewehr, Levi Gottinger, Curtis Hicks, Aiden Holcomb, Sam Hornbecker, Jack Howard, Jeremiah Howard, Jacob Jones, Sam Kyker, Vincent Laney, Bram Langebartels, Alejandro Lopez, Joseph Marsh, Joshua Parks, Jaxon Peal-Jones, Levi Poland, Colton Pollard, Jarod Pollock, Ty Reagan, Zander Rodriguez, Jeffrey Serrano, William Shelton, Brendan Shockley, Cade Spanhook, Jake Stoller, Nikolas Trepcos, Damon White, Jake Windhorst, Maya Michener, Kora Patrick, Addison Veach and Corbin DeVol.

Kaden Lark, Trey Ries and Brendan Shockley were named First Team All-Conference, and Mason Crew, Jackson Folden and Taig Williamson were named Second Team All-Conference.

For girls’ soccer, Sarah Wright was named “top scorer,” Ciarra Hiatt was named “top defender,” Madison Jo Platt was named “most improved player,” Ava Lehmkuhler was named “most valuable player,” Sophie Neihart was presented with the “sportsmanship” award Ava Lehmkuhler was designated as the “scholar athlete.” The girls’ soccer scholar athletes with a 3.3 or higher GPA were Aiyanna Bailey, Emma Browning, Caroline Burkeybyle, Brennan Cox, Abbie Frazier, Aubrey Goodlett, Ciarra Hiatt, Haylee Holloman, Autumn Jones, Ava Lehmkuhler, Stephanie Malagon, Emma Meyer, Sophie Neihart, GraceAnne Newman, Madison Jo Platt, Karlee Roberts, Sydney Smock, Breanna Stratton, Allie Swisher-Fortner, Ava Thieke and Sarah Wright.

Ava Lehmkuhler and Ciarra Hiatt were named First Team All-Conference, Sophie Neihart and GraceAnne Newman were named Second Team All-Conference and Aiyana Bailey, Brennan Cox, Ciarra Hiatt, Ava Lehmkuhler, Sophie Neihart, GraceAnne Newman, Karlee Roberts and Breanna Stratton received Academic All-State Honors.

For boys’ soccer, Altin Emerllahu was named “top scorer,” Max Campbell was named “top defender,” Bryson Achor was named “most improved player,” Altin Emerllahu was named “most valuable player,” Logan Huntsman was presented with the “sportsmanship” award and Max Campbell was designated as the “scholar athlete.” The boys’ soccer scholar athletes with a 3.3 or higher GPA were Bryson Achor, Joel Acton, Ayden Butler, Max Campbell, Talen Dickey, Altin Emerllahu, Kaleb Floyd, Christopher Green, Carsten Hedge, Aroni Hernandez, Jorge Malagon, Brandt Mezo, Taylor O’Brien, Daniel Richards, Carlos Rodriguez, Garren Stokes, Graham Wright and Eli Young.

Max Campbell and Altin Emerllahu were named First Team All-Conference, Ylljon Emerllahu and Logan Huntsman were named Second Team All-Conference and Max Campbell and Aroni Hernandez received Academic All-State Honors.

For boys’ tennis, Ian Kincade and Owen Kincade were named the “most improved players,” Jack Ferrell and Reece Guyman were named the “most valuable players,” Matthew Barber received the “sportsmanship” award and Drew Reeves was designated as the “scholar athlete.” The boys’ tennis scholar athletes with a 3.3 or higher GPA were Matthew Barber, Owen Bigler, Kai Burcham, Wesley Byrd, Thomas Devlin, Jack Ferrell, David Garcia, Owen Kincade, Danil Krulik, Parker Lawson, William Meyer, Drew Reeves, Joel Salinas, Aiden Sell and Jason Silva-Santiago.

Matthew Barber, Owen Bigler, Wesley Byrd, Reece Guyman and Jack Ferrell were named First Team All-Conference and Ian Kincade and Owen Kincade were named Second Team All-Conference.

For girls’ golf, Lucie Cassis was named “most improved,” Audrey Patterson was named “most valuable player,” Kate Williams was presented with the “Ulen Country Club Sportsmanship Award” and Emma Hornbecker was designated as the “scholar athlete.” The girls’ golf scholar athletes with a 3.3 or higher GPA were Avery Blount, Lucie Cassis, Masin Cassis, Samantha Dunshee, Paige Hauger, Emma Hornbecker, Lexi Mitchell, Audrey Patterson and Kate Williams.

Audrey Patterson, Masin Cassis, Lucie Cassis and Kate Williams were named First Team All-Conference, Emma Hornbecker was named Second Team All-Conference and Emma Hornbecker and Audrey Patterson received Academic All-State Honors.

For boys’ cross country, Carter Hammons and Dylan Krehely were named “most improved runners,” Marshal Royal was named “most valuable runner,” Tyler Meyer was presented with the “A.J. Reagan Sportsmanship Award” and Landon Gonzalez was designated as the “scholar athlete.” The boys’ cross country scholar athletes with a 3.3 or higher GPA were Andy Erdenebileg, Landon Gonzalez, Carter Hammons, Dylan Krehely, Tyler Meyer, Levi Pittman, Vaughn Royal, Brynner Sloan, Eli Taylor and Aydan Wetter.

Marshal Royal, Aydan Wetter and Dylan Krehely were named First Team All-Conference, Tyler Meyer, Isaac Harvey and Carter Hammons were named Second Team All-Conference and Landon Gonzalez received Academic All-State Honors.

For girls’ cross country, Izzy Metheny was named “most improved runner,” Penny Lamerson was named “most valuable runner,” Hadley Warren was presented with the “Megan Hammerle Sportsmanship Award” and Abigail Guilliams and Charlotte Kleindl were designated as the “scholar athletes.” The girls’ cross country scholar athletes with a 3.3 or higher GPA were Abigail Guilliams, Nadia Jones, Sarah Keith, Charlotte Kleindl, Sophie Kyker, Penny Lamerson, Izzy Metheny, Sophia Metheny, Jesuoteme “Soteria” Udu and Hadley Warren.

Penny Lamerson, Nadia Jones, Sophie Kyker and Sarah Keith were named First Team All-Conference, Isabella Metheny was named Second Team All-Conference and Izzy Metheny received Academic All-State Honors.

Girls’ golf received the highest average GPA for the fall sports season, sporting a 4.262 average. Girls’ cross country followed closely behind with a 4.013 average. Volleyball averaged 3.834, boys’ tennis averaged 3.783, girls’ soccer averaged 3.659, boys’ cross country averaged 3.555, cheerleading averaged 3.531, boys’ soccer averaged 3.196 and football averaged 3.042.

For the All-Sports Sagamore Conference Awards Standings after the fall season, Lebanon ranks first alongside Crawfordsville for the boys’ sports with 24.5, and Lebanon stands in first for the girls’ sports with 25.5, followed closely by Western Boone with 24.5.
