Mayor Issues Statement on Las Vegas Tragedy

Monday morning, Frankfort Mayor Chris McBarnes penned the following letter in response to the horrific incident that took place Sunday night in Las Vegas:
Community leaders,
Our hearts and prayers go out to everyone at the outdoor country music festival last night and to the entire Las Vegas community in the aftermath of the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.
At least 50 people were killed and 400 injured as gunfire rained down on concert goers at the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino. One off-duty police officer was killed and several other officers and their relatives were injured in the shooting.
Please join me in keeping the loved ones of those lost and the hundreds injured in this senseless massacre in your thoughts and prayers. We are grateful for the rapid, skillful and courageous job local law enforcement officials did in taking down the shooter and preventing even more deaths and injuries.
We send our healing thoughts and prayers for peace and strength to our Las Vegas neighbors in the wake of such unspeakable horror.
Mayor Chris McBarnes
