Miller Replaces Mitchell on Board of Public Works and Safety

Frankfort Mayor Judy Sheets, left, administers the oath of office to new Board of Works member Greg Miller, as Tina Stock looks on.

Late Monday morning, Frankfort Mayor Judy Sheets named Greg Miller to be the newest member of the Board of Public Works and Safety.

Miller replaces Mark Mitchell, who resigned Sunday due to a state statute that requires Board of Works board members to be city residents. Mitchell and his wife, Wanda Mitchell, just built a new house out in the county and moved.

“I hated to lose Mark,” said Sheets. “He was very helpful to me in my first three months. I knew when I put him on there that they were looking to move out in the county. I thought he would bring me a lot of good knowledge, advice and expertise in my first three months.”

Enter Miller, who is the current head of the Emergency Management Services for Clinton County and is entering into his 36th year of service to the City of Frankfort.

Miller was asked why he took the position.

“This is my community,” said Miller. “I live here and I grew up here. It’s a great opportunity to pay back. There’s so many things going on. I will continue to live here in the city of Frankfort. The city’s been great to me in my career.”

Even though this is a brand new position for Miller, he said he interacted with the Board of Works for four years when Don Stock was the mayor. He said he is looking forward to the joining the board.

“There’s just so many challenges that are out there,” said Miller. “This is a great opportunity  to help pay back. I’ve not been involved on this side of it. But it’s great to be in a position to help make positive change.”

Miller, who also becomes a member of the Frankfort Redevelopment Authority with this position, joins Megan Sheets and Mayor Sheets as board members of the Board of Works.
