Oh My Gourd! Rossville Art Students Need Your Vote

Rossville’s art students have created a pumpkin predicament: too many imaginative designs and only one top pumpkin! Now, we need the community’s help to settle this friendly fall showdown.

Thanks to a generous donation from Mike Stahl of Top Banana Farm Market in Kokomo and delivery by Leonard Baxter of M & W Trucking, Rossville Middle/High School art students received pumpkins ready for a creative transformation. Under the guidance of art teacher Christy Schaefer, students turned those gifts into colorful works of art.

Given the freedom to choose their own designs, students let their imaginations run wild. The results are anything but ordinary.

Spider-Man sports bold black webbing and unmistakable white eyes, ready to swing into the competition. Nearby, Mike and Sully from Monsters, Inc. bring big smiles, bright colors, and a little monster mischief. A Ghostbusters design looks prepared to handle any supernatural activity in the hallway, while another pumpkin features a ghost enjoying a surprisingly peaceful outdoor scene.

Prefer something sweet to something spooky? A cheerful strawberry pumpkin comes complete with yellow seeds, green leaves, and white blossoms. Meanwhile, a dramatic black-and-white design featuring a muscular figure and the word “BELIEVE” makes a bold statement. From playful characters to carefully painted details, these pumpkins show just how many possibilities students can find in the same humble starting material.

And that is where you come in. Will a superhero capture your vote? Will a monster steal your heart? Could a strawberry squash the competition?

All pumpkins are on display outside the art room and can be seen during the Haunted Hallway event on October 23. Come enjoy the Halloween atmosphere, take a close look at the students’ work, and choose your favorite.
