Park Security Takes Center Stage at Monday’s Board of Works Meeting

Mayor Judy Sheets stands with her new administrative assistant Andrea Sheese after she was approved by the Board of Works. Andrea’s first official day is December 4.

Security was the big ticket item at Monday’s Board of Works meeting in Old Stoney.

The Board of Works approved three new security cameras for the tennis courts and baseball diamond near the TPA Park plus a new security system at Prairie Creek Park to hopefully prevents break-ins in a problem area between the playground and Auto Zone.

“I’m real excited to get those cameras out by the new tennis courts,” said Frankfort Mayor Judy Sheets. “I think it’s important and it will also be a part of the baseball. I’m pretty sure it’s going to hit that range as well. We had two or three break-ins this past summer at the concession stands at the Little League baseball field. I think it’s important and I want those tennis courts and pickleball courts taken care of.”

Sheets was really happy with the security system for Prairie Creek Park in the part near the fencing where vandals have gained entrance to do damage at the park.

“That’s going to be really good,” said Sheets. “We did not have cameras that reached that area. So, I think it’s going to work really well for us.”

The security cameras cost $7,366.50 overall.

The Board of Works also gave their okay to new security doors with new locks at the Neighborhood Center.

“That is going to be really nice because we are going to have the new doors at the Neighborhood Center plus the new doors,” said Sheets. “There again, it’s something we’ve needed. We’ll be also to lock the new doors from their phones which will be nice.”

The Board of Works also approved the hire of Andrea Sheese as the mayor’s new administrative assistant. She replaces Tina Stock, whose last day is December 1.

“I’m excited to have her in my office as my administrative assistant,” said Mayor Sheets. “She’ll be a great asset to our team. I look forward to working with her. She’s got a great personality. She’s worked with the public. I know she brings many great things to the office.”
