Pro Byte Computers Relocating, Transitioning to Appointment-Only Retail Service

After more than 20 years of serving the Frankfort community, Pro Byte Computers is relocating its storefront and changing the way it serves retail customers while expanding its focus on business IT services.

Owner Charlie Spradlin announced the changes in a letter to customers, explaining that the business has grown to the point where balancing both its retail computer store and small business IT support services requires a new approach.

Beginning Monday, Aug. 3, Pro Byte Computers will operate from a new location at 259 E. Clinton St. in Frankfort, the former Creekside Music building located between Old Stoney and the Ivy Tech buildings. The move places the business just two blocks from its current location.

As part of the transition, the company’s retail storefront will move to an appointment-only model. Customers will still be able to purchase computers, parts, and accessories, as well as schedule computer repairs and upgrades, but appointments will be required.

According to Spradlin, the change will allow staff to provide customers with more focused, individualized service rather than dividing attention between walk-in traffic, phone calls, and on-site service appointments.

Customers can schedule appointments by calling 765-659-0732.

Pro Byte Computers will remain at its current location and maintain regular business hours through Wednesday, July 29. The business will then close Thursday, July 30, through Sunday, Aug. 2, to complete the move. Operations will resume at the new location on Monday, Aug. 3 under the appointment-only schedule.

Spradlin said the changes will also allow the company to expand its on-site IT support and managed services for small businesses, which have become a primary focus of the company’s operations. The goal is to provide faster response times, more consistent service, and a team dedicated to supporting business technology needs.

“We know change can be an adjustment, and we don’t take that lightly,” Spradlin said in the letter. “But we believe this is the right move to keep delivering the quality of service you’ve come to expect—for years to come.”

Customers with questions about the transition are encouraged to contact Pro Byte Computers at 765-659-0732.
