Single Vehicle Crash on I-65 Claims Life

A single vehicle crash on I-65 this morning resulted in a fatality. At 12:11 a.m. Sunday, Indiana State Police Dispatchers began receiving 911 calls about a single vehicle crash on I-65 at the 105.5 mile marker in the southbound lanes. Callers were indicating that the driver of the car was possibly entrapped and unconscious. When Troopers arrived they found a passenger car heavily damaged on the left shoulder of the highway. The Indianapolis Fire Department responded and administered emergency medical aid. The driver was transported to an area hospital where they were pronounced deceased.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Adarius Washington determined the driver of the passenger car ran off the roadway to the right side, struck a roadside guardrail, then crossed back across all three lanes and struck the concrete median wall. At this point, the reason the driver drove off the road is unknown. The Marion County Coroner’s Office will assist with this investigation and determine the cause of death.

The left two lanes of I-65 were closed while the crash was investigated and the vehicle was removed.
