The City of Frankfort is preparing for Halloween festivities and encourages residents to participate in upcoming trick-or-treating and downtown events.
Official city-wide trick-or-treat hours are from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31. Residents wishing to share treats with trick-or-treaters should leave their outside lights on. If you do not wish to participate, or run out of treats, turn off your outside lights.
Downtown Halloween events on Saturday, Oct. 31 include:
- Frankfort Main Street’s Monster Mash Trick-or-Treat on the Square from 5:30-7 p.m. A kids’ costume contest at Veterans Park starting at 6 p.m.
- Frankfort’s Unified Neighborhoods (F.U.N) invites families to “Scare on the Square,” a trunk-or-treat event on Halloween night in downtown Frankfort.
For a safer celebration, follow these guidelines from the Frankfort Police Department:
- Drive with extra caution. Use crosswalks and cross at street corners.
- Adults should accompany young children.
- Use a flashlight at night and stay in well-lit areas. Glow sticks or reflective tape aid in visibility, too.
- Inspect candy before allowing children to have it. Dispose of any unwrapped candy.
