Three Injured In Train, Pickup Crash

At approximately 3:48 p.m. Tuesday, Deputies with the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of a crash involving a train and pickup truck at County Road 750W, near Gas Line Road.

Preliminary investigation indicated that a Blue 2006 Ford Pickup truck, driven by Lora Elston, 65, of Battle Ground was traveling northbound and, for an unknown reason, entered into the path of an westbound train from Norfolk Southern Railroad.

The vehicle had two passengers, a seven-year-old female and 11-year-old male.  The seven-year-old was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital.  Elston and the 11-year-old male was taken by ambulance to a Lafayette Hospital.  The extent of their injuries are unknown at this time.
