Rossville senior wrestler Noah Weaver made his commitment official last week, signing to continue his wrestling career at Purdue University.
Weaver, the son of former Purdue wrestler Matt Weaver, won the State Championship in the 190-pound weight class last season. Weaver went 50-0 and defeated top-ranked Gunner Henry of Brownsburg to capture the State Champion.
“We knew what Noah was capable of,” Rossville wrestling coach Thomas Lynch said of Weaver’s State Championship run. “He’s been knocking on the door for a couple of years. It really just shows that hard work and perseverance pays off, I mean he worked his tail off last offseason and put himself in position to make a deep run.
Rossville had a successful season as a team a season ago. Including Weaver, Rossville had three wrestlers qualify for Semi-State. Jacob Cole at 165 and Jacob Weaver at 150.
The Hornet’s wrestling season will begin on Saturday, Nov. 23rd as the Hornets play host to Faith Christian, North White, Eastern Hancock, Northfield and Triton at the Hornet Wrestling Invite.
