The Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department released that it has recently become aware of some “reports” on various social media outlets that claim that suspicious activity has been reported at local places, stating that no official reports have been received by the department.
The department stated that reports have been received that various social media pages and community members have claimed that suspicious activities of people following them or stalking them at local stores, following them to Meijer and more were occurring on social media, but the department stated that no official reports or calls for service regarding the activity have been filed. The department encouraged community members to file official reports to aid the department in better addressing suspicious activity in the area.
“Our officers actively patrol the business corridor and will continue to do so as safety of our community is our number one priority,” the department released.
We also want to reach out to the community that if at any time you feel unsafe, or that you are being followed, especially in a public place please call 911 to report and our officers will respond swiftly to investigate and ensure your safety. Also, should this happen, make sure to stay in a public place where there are people around until we get there and arrive. It is our job to protect and serve the community, but we cannot do that if we are unaware until after the fact.
