Whitestown Police Department Investigation Leads to Dealing Resulting in Death Arrest

On June 16, 2023, Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department responded to a death investigation in Whitestown. An immediate investigation at the scene determined that this death was a result of an overdose of fentanyl. The deceased was identified as Jeremiah McClaine (38) of Whitestown.

Investigators with theCriminal Investigations Division (CID) continued their efforts following the initial incident and were able to identify a potential suspect who appeared to have completed a drug transaction with McClaine the night of his death. During this investigation, Investigators also discovered the potential suspect was actively selling counterfeit prescription pills made with fentanyl, imitating a legitimate opiate based prescription pill.

Following a long and in depth investigation consisting of multiple interviews, execution of multiple search warrants, collaboration with WMPD’s Cyber Forensic Division and other law enforcement agencies along with the Boone County Prosecutor’s Office, probable cause was discovered that Lonnie L. Haskins Jr. (26) of Indianapolis did commit Dealing in a Controlled Substance Resulting in Death, a Level 1 Felony. Haskins was arrested by WMPD and members of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) on November 2, 2023.
