Delma Jean LaRue<\/strong>, 94, of Frankfort, passed away on December 12, 2017, at Wesley Manor Retirement Community.<\/p>\nDelma Jean LaRue<\/strong>, 94, of Frankfort, passed away on December 12, 2017, at Wesley Manor Retirement Community.<\/p>\n
She was born August 10, 1923, in Colorado Spring, CO, to Delmar C. and Myra B. (Clark) Smith.\u00a0 On August 30, 1942, she married Maurice E. \u201cJack\u201d LaRue in Independence, MO; he passed away on August 10, 2004.<\/p>\n
Jean graduated from King City High School in Missouri, attended Catholic University, and later George Washington University for two years.\u00a0 Jean lived in Kokomo for almost 30 years before moving to Frankfort in 1994.\u00a0 She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Kokomo, PEO Sisterhood, and the Deborah Circle of both St. Matthew United Methodist Church and the Irvington United Methodist Church.\u00a0 Jean served as a past president of the United Methodist Church Women in Indianapolis and Kokomo.\u00a0 She truly enjoyed her time with people, her church, nature, and music although she was not a musician.\u00a0 Jean will be remembered for her saying like, \u201cNot only be kind, be generous.\u201d<\/p>\n
Surviving Jean are her sons, Dan Spencer LaRue, of Indianapolis, and Gary Lee LaRue (wife, Lesley), of Smyrna, GA; grandchildren, Jennifer VanNewkirk (husband, Cern), Meridee LaRue, and Jeffery LaRue, and two great-grandchildren, Lilly and Max.<\/p>\n
In addition to her husband, Jean is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Lameta Larson, brother, Nathaniel Smith, and daughter-in-law, Nora Westlake.<\/p>\n
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2017, at the Amanda Reid Memorial Chapel in Wesley Manor from 2:00 p.m. to the start of the memorial service at 3:00 p.m.\u00a0 Chaplain Deborah Musick will officiate.\u00a0 Memorials in Jean\u2019s name may be made to Wesley Manor Good Samaritan Fund or a charity of choice.\u00a0 Inurnment will be held at a later date by her husband, Jack, in Green Lawn Cemetery.\u00a0 Arrangements are entrusted to Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, with online condolences being directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
