Frankfort Police Chief Scott Shoemaker addresses the crowd at the groundbreaking ceremony held Monday morning.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nOn Monday morning, one of the most anticipated activities took on State Road 28 West\u00a0 — the groundbreaking for the new Frankfort Police Department building took place.<\/p>\n
“This is a great day,” said Frankfort Police Chief Scott Shoemaker. “So many people are here. The weather’s great. Everything has worked out. It’s been going on for two-and-a-half years.”<\/p>\n
The new facility will be located next to Brock Grain on State Road 28. According to Shoemaker, the move-in date is October of 2023.<\/p>\n
Frankfort Mayor Judy Sheets was excited about the project.<\/p>\n
“This is going to be a great facility for the police officers,” said Sheets. “They are going to be able to have what they need.”<\/p>\n
Sheets added the facility will benefit more than just the police department.<\/p>\n
“This is going to be good for our community,” said Sheets. “It’s a good location as we move out towards the interstate which will probably be in a\u00a0 year, year-and-a-half.”<\/p>\n
