Gloria Anne Laverty, 87, of Frankfort, died November 1, 2024 at Grand Brooke Memory Care, Zionsville, Ind.\u00a0 She was born in Indianapolis on August 4, 1937 to Thomas G. and Alyce (Brufladt) LaManna.\u00a0 After the death of her father, on November 8, 1937, her mother married Fredrik G. Lofquist on March 3, 1941.\u00a0 Gloria married Robert O. Laverty on July 29, 1967 in Indianapolis and he preceded her in death on May 14, 2001.<\/p>\n

Gloria was a graduate of Broad R<\/em><\/strong>ipple High School, received her B.S. Degree from Butler University, her M.A. from Ball State and completed her 6^{th<\/sup> year at IUPUI.\u00a0 She had lived in Indianapolis until 1967 before moving to Frankfort.\u00a0 Gloria had been a teacher at Clinton Prairie and Frankfort School systems for 33 years, retiring in 2002.\u00a0 She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Indianapolis, Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity, past member of Alpha Delta Kappa Educational Honorary, Tri Kappa Sorority, Clinton County Retired Teachers Association, Past President of the Frankfort Literary Club, Past President of the Clinton County Symphony Society, The Sacred Heart, Minnesota Historical Society, former board member and past treasurer of the Friends of the Frankfort Library, The Newfoundland Club of America, The South Central Newfoundland Club, the Lafayette Alumnae Association of Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity, and President of the Indianapolis Branch of the English Speaking Union.<\/p>\n}

Gloria and her husband, Bob, enjoyed spending time with family and many relatives, sponsoring exchange students from Europe, Asia, and South America for many years, traveling to America\u2019s National Parks, visiting exchange students and their families, fishing, sailing, cooking, gardening and raising Newfoundland\u2019s for show and pleasure.<\/p>\n

Gloria is survived by five nephews and one niece.\u00a0 She is preceded in death by her parents, spouse and a sister, Barbara Joan Pedersen.<\/p>\n

Visitation will be 4-5:30 p.m. Sunday, November 10, 2024 at Goodwin Funeral Home<\/a>, 200 S.
