Wayne Edward Walker, 92 of Mulberry<\/strong> passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024.\u00a0 He was born March 17, 1932, in Frankfort, Indiana, the son of Samuel and Alice (Reed) Walker.\u00a0 He graduated from Frankfort High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1952 \u2013 1954 during the Korean War.\u00a0 Wayne later earned an electrical technology degree from Ivy Tech.<\/p>\n
Wayne was an avid outdoorsman learning to fish and hunt the creeks and woods of Clinton County; it became his greatest passion.\u00a0 Growing up on his parents\u2019 farm, he learned to work with his hands and could fix or troubleshoot most anything. \u00a0His training in the Army and degree from Ivy Tech earned him a 30-year career as a signal maintainer for the L&N Railroad. Wayne was a faithful man, teaching Sunday School and a bible study most recently at the Mulberry United Methodist Church.\u00a0 He was also active with the Boy Scouts where he earned the Silver Beaver Award, the highest award for a Scout Leader.<\/p>\n
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Fred; grandson, Justin Hall; and his 12 siblings.<\/p>\n
Wayne is survived by three daughters and one son; Sharon and her husband Darryl Ponder of Wauwatosa, WI; Nancy and her husband Brett Decker of Zionsville, IN; Shelley Hall of Indianapolis, IN; Steve and his wife Betsy of Zionsville, IN.\u00a0 Wayne was formerly married to Mary Hubert and they have 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.<\/p>\n
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 17, 2024, from 10am until the time of the service at 11am at Mulberry United Methodist Church.\u00a0 Pastor Kevin Smith will officiate.\u00a0 Burial will follow at Providence Cemetery.
