Zionsville Student Recycled Art Contest Cancelled As Greenfest Changes Venues

The Zionsville Parks and Recreation Department annunced that the 2024 Student Recycled Art Contest has been cancelled this year due to the change of venue for the Zionsville Greenfest.

According to the department, with the change of venues from the Zionsville Town Hall to Elm Street Green, 165 N. Elm St. on Saturday, April 27, the Student Recycled Art Contest has been cancelled this year. The department stated that the contest is expected to return for the 2025 Greenfest.

Community members expressed their disappointment in the contest being cancelled, stating that the students have been working hard on their art pieces for this year’s contest. The department responded with an explanation.

“We are bummed as well, but the contest has always been inside to keep artwork protected, and we don’t have an indoor option at Elm Street Green,” the department responded. “Tell them to save their artwork for 2025.”

Community members also pointed out that the decision to change venues for Greenfest was likely a result of early voting scheduled for the Town Hall, which the department confirmed, further elaborating on the parking situation expected for the upcoming Greenfest as well.

“Unfortunately, that means parking will be closed at Elm Street Green as we need all of the available space for our exhibitors,” the department reported. “Being as this is a sustainable event, we encourage carpooling, riding bikes, finding on street parking parking within the village and taking the short walk down. The upper lot will still be open for handicap accessibility. This is the same as we offer for our popular family events Trick or Trees and Christmas in the Park.”

The 2024 Zionsville Greenfest will kick off on Saturday, April 27 at 9 a.m.
