Kirklin American Legion Annual Veteran’s Day Rabbit Supper

Kirklin American Legion Post 310 held their annual Veteran’s Day Rabbit Supper Wednesday evening.

A nice group shared in the annual event prepared by the American Legion men and women and community pitch in sides for the dinner.

The history behind the annual rabbit supper as told to us by Jerry Shore, Legionnaire of the Kirklin Legion. The Veteran’s of World War 1 returned home to Kirklin Indiana and went rabbit hunting, They then had a rabbit supper and it became a tradition in Kirklin by the American Legion which was located at the time above the old liquor store. The American Legion as we know it now was not built until the early 1970’s.

The ladies Auxiliary (unit 310) are responsible for helping with many events at the legion. They are famous for making funeral dinners, the Annual rabbit supper, annual hog roast,
fund raising events, and standing behind the men and women of the military past and present.

This even was a great success although just a little smaller group than normal due to covid this year. The food was delicious
