Special Needs Prom article contributor Gena Carson
Nearly 100 individuals gathered
at the Edward Jones building at the Clinton County 4H fairgrounds on Saturday October 12th for the 2nd Annual Special Needs Prom. The Prom is one of many events put on by the Clinton County Autism Support Group to promote awareness and acceptance of the Autism and Disabilities Community.
This year the Prom was co-sponsored by The Clinton County Fair Council & Frankfort’s Unified Neighborhoods. Event organizers, Gena Carson and Crissy Earl of the Clinton County Autism Support Group They were pleased by the Community Support received this year, stating that they had received several dresses, suits, shoes and monetary donations to help make the Prom a huge success. This year they added the opportunity for individuals to come pick out clothing to wear to the Prom and The Learning Network provided girls with the option of having their hair, nails & makeup done prior to the event. Also they also crowned their first King & Queen, Diego and Jessa. Special thanks goes to everyone who volunteered their time, talents & donations. We are already looking forward to next year’s event.
