FHS Has Two Individuals, Two Relays Qualify for Sectional Finals

he Frankfort High School girls’ swimming team qualified two individuals and two relays for the finals at sectional preliminaries Thursday night.

Patciance Dean qualified for the finals by finishing fifth in the 50 freestyle and eighth in the 100 backstroke and Karely Santos qualified by finishing eighth in the 100 butterfly. The 200 medley relay team of Karleigh Bessler, Aubrey Teter, Santos and Dean took sixth, while the 200 freestyle relay of Bessler, Kileigh Adams-Long, Santos and Dean finished sixth.

Sectional finals are slated for Saturday.

Top 6 finishes included Teter (16th in 200 freestyle and 10th in 100 breaststroke), Adams-Long (16th in 100 freestyle), Bessler (11th in 100 backstroke), Amber Houchen (13th in 100 breaststroke) and 400 freestyle relay team of Teter, Hailey Campbell, Payton Teter and Adams-Long finished 10th.

On Wednesday, the FHS boys’ swim team defeated Logansport 91-73. Results were as follows:

Prairie Falls to Central Catholic in Sectional
Lafayette Central Catholic jumped out to a eight-point lead after one quarter en route to a 47-35 victory over Clinton Prairie in the girls’ basketball sectional at Sheridan Tuesday night.
The loss ended the season for the Gophers at 19-4. Two of the losses were to Central Catholic, while the others were to McCutcheon and Tipton.
Sydney Swan led Prairie with 10 points and eight rebounds. Kylie Maish was next with eight and Rebekah Lloyd added six. Swan also led the team in rebounds with eight. Tynlie Neal had seven rebounds and Lloyd added six boards.
Frankfort Drops Tight Contest to North Montgomery
Frankfort ended its season with a tough 36-34 setback against North Montgomery in the sectional opener Tuesday night.
Jordan Frazier led FHS, which finished 2-21, with 11 points. Sydney Cesare and Liz Sandoval both scored 10 points for the Hot Dogs.
Frankfort had a one-point lead with 1:03 remaining, but couldn’t hold on for the win.
