Lafayette Man in ORV Accident in Montgomery County

Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an off-road vehicle (ORV) accident that occurred Saturday evening.

At approximately 5:06 p.m., first responders were dispatched to the area of the 2900 block of west Edinburgh Drive near Lake Holiday.

Preliminary investigation showed that Dalton Baldwin, 25, of Lafayette, was operating a dirt bike on the roadway when he lost control, causing him to leave the road and strike a landscaping wall.

Baldwin sustained severe injuries to both legs. He was flown via Stat Flight helicopter to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis for further treatment.

The incident is still under investigation. Baldwin was not wearing a helmet or any other safety gear at the time of the accident. Conservation officers remind everyone to always wear a helmet and protective riding gear when operating or riding an ORV.
