One weekend each year Camp Cullom becomes a Science Lab for Clinton County fifth graders. The “Camp Cullom Academy of Science” takes the study of Science for area fifth grade students to a whole new level.
A limited number of slots for 5th grade students are still available. If interested, report to the Camp Cullom Nature Center at 5:30 tonight, Friday September 30. You can be a part of this exciting weekend. There is no charge for students to participate.

Students and their families will gather tonight, Friday September 30th for a special talk by Greg McCauley “Into the Unknown”-James Webb Telescope followed by a guided tour at Prairie Grass Observatory and a look at Galaxies, Star Clusters, Meteorites, Moon craters, constellations and more. Space videos will be playing at the Observatory in the Gallelio Gallery at the observatory under the starry sky. Russ Kaspar and Andy Schilling will host the Prairie Grass Observatory viewing tonight.
Saturday kicks of with a fun talk on the Scientific method, a drone demonstration, rocket assembly and launch for each fifth grader. In the afternoon the fifth graders will study the Woodland, Aquatic Habitats followed by fun experiments with bubbles led by retired Science Teacher Mike Beaver.
Students will also have the opportunity to dissect their own Owl Pellets to learn about the diet of Owls.
The special weekend ends with team reports and a family dinner at the Camp Cullom Lodge.
