The Zionsville Parks and Recreation Department has announced its first Native Plant Sale to help support local habitat restoration and bring eco-friendly native plants to the yards of local residents.
The pre-sale of the plants is open now through April 18. Orders may be placed at zionsvillein.myrec.com/info/products/default.aspx.
According to the department, native plants are low maintenance, requiring less water and fertilizer than non-native plants, wildlife-friendly, attracting birds, bees and butterflies, and sustainable, restoring local habitats.
Pickup for the plants will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on May 3 at Heritage Trail Park. The first 100 orders will receive a free spicebrush shrub courtesy of the Zionsville Parks Foundation.
