After graduating from Marion Adams High School (now Sheridan Community Schools) with the Class of 1987, she continued her education at Ball State University, earning her bachelor’s degree in nursing in 1991. Jennifer was so much more than just a caregiver for her patients. She was an advocate for their care, in all possible ways. For many years she worked in the Children’s Rehab Unit at Methodist Hospital, as well as in the PICU at Riley Hospital for Children. Her patients in these units were “her kids” and were loved and treated as such. She never stopped being an advocate for “her kids”, making sure they always had a voice in their care. She also worked for both Wishard Hospital and St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis, where she was actively involved with the Franciscan Stroke Group.
Later she went to work for Georgetown University Hospital, helping them open a new unit. Her dedication to her patients never wavered; it just changed directions on occasion. From speaking for those who had no voice, to being a hand to hold when you are scared and don’t want to be alone, Jennifer was that familiar friend that had the amazing ability to be exactly what you needed at that moment. While at Georgetown, she decided to try her hand at the management side of hospital work. Soon after, she accepted a position with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield as a case reviewer and remained with the company for the rest of her career, still finding new ways to take care of her patients.
Jennifer had so much love to send out into the world, and a HUGE portion of the love was focused on her family. Her daughter was her world. Jennifer was tirelessly devoted to every activity, especially when it came to gymnastics. Every performance, every meet, mom was right there, her biggest fan. Jennifer’s love for her family extended to her four-legged family as well. When it was time to relax Jennifer enjoyed venturing out on road trips to take in some of her favorite sights. Brown County in the fall and Louisville caves decorated for the holidays were just a few of her favorite destinations; but really, it was the adventure, not just the destination that was the real draw. She always made sure to keep a close eye on her Indianapolis Colts as well.
Jennifer is survived by her husband, Joseph Wayne Finney. She and Joseph were married on February 14, 1995. Also surviving is her daughter, Cheyenne Marie Finney (boyfriend, Evan Litz) of Greenwood; father and stepmother, Jerald Roy “Jerry” Faucett (Rhonda) of Kirklin; mother and stepfather, Mary Elizabeth (Duchemin) Cummings (Charlie) of Sheridan; brother, Jerald Roy “Jerry” Faucett, Jr. (Vickie) of Kirklin; sisters, Dolores “Dee” McDaniel (Matthew) of Kirklin, and Jessica Bessler (Waylan) of Frankfort; step-sisters, Kim Forrer (Larry) of Noblesville, and Inka Glidden (Mike) of Sheridan; and by her 2 canine BFFs, Gunner and Demon. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Jim and Helen Duchemin; and paternal grandparents, John and Esther Faucett.
