Mildred Charlene (DeVault) Reppert

Mildred Charlene (DeVault) Reppert

Mom was born on Sunday, September 19, 1937 in Monon, Indiana to Charles and Mildred (Conwell) DeVault. It was a great day! She was the youngest of six children: Buddy, Dixie, Philip, Patty, and DaVonna “Tootles”, who all preceded her.

Mom spent her early years on a farm outside of Monon, playing with her sister, “Tootles” and their dog, Cricket. She met Jack Reppert of Pyrmont, Indiana whom she married on April 01, 1955. They lived their whole lives in the Rossville area spending most of that time in Owasco, since 1963. She and Jack raised four children. She loved her flowers and antiques, and was well-known as a great cook, sharing her baked goods with all the neighborhood kids. Many stray animals were adopted by Mom to become family pets. She loved having a house full of kids, friends, and family.

Mom died in her home surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and other family. She is preceded in death by her husband Jack, who passed away on September 12, 2025. Her children all survived her: Tony Reppert (Tammy) of Lafayette, Nicki Nice of Owasco, Terry Reppert of Tucson, Arizona, and Kelly Reppert (Barbara) of Overgaard, Arizona. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Mom was very sentimental and loved reading nostalgic poetry. She left us many in her keepsakes, such as the one below:

“Now I lay me down to rest

A weight has lifted from my chest

I’m going to heaven to be with the best

There’s a farm up there, can see it now

With horses, pigs, and even cows,…..

No need to hurry; I’ll be waiting here

We’ll set the table, talk and cheer,

About all the times, good and bad,

But mostly all the fun we had.”

A private family celebration will be held at a later date. Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Bodine Chapel in Rossville is assisting with the services. Messages of condolence may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
