Inside INdiana Business is reporting that after a year of planning, a downtown Lebanon project is coming to fruition. Ground was broken earlier in the week on the nearly $8 million project, which will be completed in three phases.
The work involves removing asphalt to allow for new brick pavers, new sidewalks, new lighting, and a new multi-use trail called The Big 4 Trail, which will make its way along the south side of the downtown square. “It took some brief convincing that this concept wasn’t just another plan that would sit on a shelf,” Lebanon Mayor Matt Gentry said. “We dubbed the project the ‘Lebanon Downtown Action Plan’ and we stayed true to that focus.”
Phase one will include work along Main Street from State Road 39 east of Meridian Street, and is scheduled to be done in 75 days. Phase 2 is on Meridian Street from Main to Washington Street, and is set to take 60 days. Phase 3 includes Washington Street from State Road 39 to Meridian, and is also expected to be completed within 60 days. More information on the project can be found here.
