Special Guests Highlight First Weekend of County Fair

Indianapolis Colt’s “Colts in Motion” exhibit will visit the Clinton County Fair this year. The 42-foot-long traveling museum, full of interactive Colt history and memorabilia, will be featured during a celebration of families on Sunday, July 8.  The Colt’s exhibit will be open from 3-7 p.m. immediately following the 2 p.m. parade.

Other activities during the celebration include: Remote Control Car Races from Ed Russell; Putting Green from Coach Kids; Frankfort Fire Department Smoke House; Face Painting by Community Christian Church Outreach; Healthy Communities of Clinton County’s Bicycle Course; and two Bounce Houses from the fair council.

Clinton County Fair Council member Skip Davis says, “Additional family oriented activities are expected to be confirmed during the coming days.”

Council member Nancy Elsea is organizing the Fair Parade which steps off from the Frankfort Public Library at 2:00 p.m. that afternoon. This year’s parade route has been extended. According to Elsea, “The parade will not conclude at the north gate to the fairgrounds as it has in the past but continue through the fairgrounds and disband at the south end of the property.”  Davis says, “I hope families will follow the parade into the grounds and participate in the family friendly activities.”

At 3:30 p.m. the Clinton County Ministerial Association will hold a “Singspiration” in the events tent, located between Clinton Hall and the 4-H Community Building. Entitled: “Our Story”.  The “Singspiration” will feature several groups and individuals.

According to CCMA President Pastor David Fry, “Our special guest is the drum line – Sheltered Reality.” According to the Sheltered Reality web page, their mission is to employ “the power of music to engage and motivate audiences to make positive changes both in themselves and the world in which they live.”

The evenings of the first weekend of the fair are also busy.  The Truck/Tractor Pull is at 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 7, in front of the grandstands. On Sunday, July 8, also at 6 p.m. and in front of the grandstands is the Demolition Derby.

This year’s Clinton County & 4-H Fair begins Saturday, July 7 and concludes Sunday, July 15.  The Clinton County Fairgrounds are located at 1701 South Jackson Street in Frankfort, Indiana.
