The Purdue Extension Office is hosting a program for incoming high school freshmen and sophomores designed to help them prepare for their education after high school. The program will be held July 16 and 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; July 18 and 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and July 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. All programs will be held at the Extension Office located at 1111 S. Jackson St., Frankfort. The registration deadline is Tuesday, July 10. The Frankfort Parks Department has announced that the movie “Lego Ninjago” has been rescheduled to Tuesday, July 17. Other movies and dates are: “Coco” on Friday, July 27; “Despicable Me 3” on Friday, August 24; and “Paddington 2” on Friday, September 14. For more information, call 659-3422.

 

The Michigantown Lions Club Summertime Breakfast will be held Saturday, July 21, from 7-10 a.m. at the Lions/Alumni Building. This is an all-you-can-eat event that will have homemade sausage gravy, biscuits, homemade scrambled eggs, sausage, orange juice and coffee. The cost is a free-will donation. Paul and Trae McQueen will be Ministering in Song on Saturday, July 21, at 6 p.m., at the Trinity UMC, 806 N. Columbia St., Frankfort.

 

The authors of “Indianapolis — The True Story of the Worst Sea Disaster in U.S. History and the Fifty-Year Fight to Exonerate an Innocent Man,” Lynn Vincent and Sara Vladic, will gave a presentation at the Frankfort Community Public Library on Monday, July 23, at  6 p.m. The first 10 guests in attendance will receive a free copy of the book, courtesy of the Friends of the Frankfort Library. This event is free and open to the public. Additional copies of their book will be available for purchase.

 

The INSpace Camp will be held July 23-27 at the Frankfort Municipal Airport from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily for students ages 8-14. 2018 kicks off their newest adventure called Mars Next! The camp will have airplane rides, rocketry, cool projects, special guests, launch to edge of space, prizes and a drone demonstration. Cost is $275 per person. Former Crawfordsville woman and current Frankfort resident Suzanne Spicer is planning an Ataxia Awareness Walk on Friday, July 27, at the Frankfort Hot Dog Festival, at 4:30 p.m. Interested individuals should meet at her booth. She will have another walk at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Hot Dog Festival.Ataxia is a condition where a person lacks muscle control during voluntary movements, such as picking up objects or walking. The Frankfort Community Public Library is holding an Ancestry Lock-in, which will be located in the Earl J. Culver Genealogy Area on Friday, July 27, from 5-9 p.m. The cost for the lock-in is $2 and normal printing fees will be waived. Participants may bring supper or a snack to eat in Harry’s Coffee Bar when they need to take a break. A free Nature Trail Walk will be held on Saturday, July 28 at 8 a.m. at Camp Cullom, 6815 W. County Road 200 North, Frankfort. Join naturalist Jeff Swackhammer on a guided 1-mile moderate trail walk starting at the Camp Cullom lodge. Hiking shoes and binoculars are recommended. The Central Indiana DNA Interest Group (CIDIG) will be presenting a workshop entitled ‘Adding DNA Testing to Your Genealogy Toolkit’ at the Frankfort Community Public Library on Saturday, August 4, from 12:30-4:30 p.m. in Room 219. Dane Bailey, the Singing Auctioneer, will be at the Burlington Community Park Building on Friday, August 3, at 7 p.m. for a benefit concert and auction. Local handcrafted and baked good items will be auctioned off with proceeds going to the community building improvements. Cost is a free-will donation.

 

The Kokomo High School Class of 2008 10-Year Reunion will be held Saturday, August 25, from 6-9 p.m. at Kelley Agricultural Museum in Sharpsville. There will be food and drinks, music and catching up with old friends. Tickets are $25 per person and $40 for a pair. Individuals are asked to buy tickets in advance to help estimate number for catering purposes. Also, this event is adults only.
