INDOT is advising motorists that a weight limit of 38-tons has been placed on the U.S. 421 (State Rd 39 N) Bridge over Kilmore Creek, which is located north of Frankfort and just south of State Road 38.
Based upon a structural analysis review of the bridge, INDOT has determined that vehicles weighing over 38-tons are not allowed to travel on this bridge. Signs displaying “Weight Limit 38 Tons” are posted on both sides of the bridge.
INDOT has activated a traffic signal to allow for motorists to travel in one direction at a time across the bridge.
INDOT has a project to repair the bridge scheduled to open for bids in January of next year.
